Jennifer Ouloassia Yhaye is one of Africa’s youngest female airline pilots. Born in July 28th, 1996 in the United Kingdom, she spent most of her life in Abidjan, Côte-d’Ivoire where she attended Morning Glory International School (MGIS). At 17, she completed her A levels in pure mathematics, physics, Information & Communication Technology, English, French and Spanish.
Yhaye then relocated to South Africa in March 2015 and enrolled in the famed 43 Air School (PTY) Ltd., a school noted for producing top-tier aviators, where she got her “Frozen Integrated Airline Pilot License” in October 2016 at the age of 20, following approximately two years of grueling training.
In December 2016, the trailblazer went back to her homeland Ivory Coast where she interned in NAS ivoire (National Aviation Services) and finally established herself in 2018 as a first officer on the DASH 8-Q400 aircraft in Asky airlines, based in Togo. She currently is a Senior First Officer with 3000+hours and flies the world renowned Boeing 737Max, making her at the age of 27, the first west-african woman to fly the Boeing737MAX.
In 2019, she received the “Prix de L’excellence” from His Excellency Allassane Ouattara, president of Côte-d’Ivoire ,for her stellar contribution to the aviation industry of her country.
In 2022, she was featured has an honorary citizen on the official website of the Government of Côte-d’Ivoire (gouv.ci)
Jennifer continues to aim for the stars as she continues to inspire the young and the old, and hopes to one day share her journey to the realisation of her dreams with young women and young men of this generation and the generations to come.
